Class Announcements Spelling lists posted for this week.To be tested Thursday 3/18/10.
Check out the calendar!I have recently learned to use the calendar feature on this website. As I will be sending out newsletters less often, this will be a great resource for current information about upcoming tests, field trips, and other events. I will update it once a week.
spelling list posted along with group assignmentsI have posted this week's spelling list. The test will be on Wednesday, December 23rd. I have also posted a list according to student number of who is in what group. You can find these in the spelling folder, which is in the at-home assignments folder.
Key to Progress Report emailsI'll continue to send home progress reports on Fridays. "I" means incomplete, but I have seen it. "NHI" is "Not Handed In." These automatically calculate as F's until they are replaced. These are papers students are missing. I marked some students with "I's" because there were several questions wrong, and I'd like them to try again to fix it. These will be handed back to students on Monday to be fixed. Let me know if you have any further questions regarding grades.
New Grading PolicyThe following is copied from the weekly news that will be coming home on Monday 11/9.
I have re-evaluated how I handle student work. I’m going to start a new policy for turning in papers and sending home grades. Any work not completed by the end of the day will be assigned for homework. I will expect it back the next day. I will grade assignments regularly and send home at least 10 graded papers in a regular 5-day week. These will come home in Friday folders. On Friday afternoons, I will send emails with grade reports. These will indicate grades as well as missing assignments. If students are missing things they may turn them in for a reduced grade the next Monday. For those who are absent, I will keep a folder on their desks and put the day’s work in it. Consistent with school policy, excused absences will have 2 days per day absent to make up work. Spelling listsFor your convenience, I have typed a list of the spelling words for each group beginning 10/22. It can be found in the At-Home Activities file, under spelling lists. I anticipate posting a new one each week.
